Grand Discoveries: A Grand Arcade Case Study

At Blackline Creative, collaboration is at the heart of what we do. Grand Arcade devised the concept for Grand Discoveries—a family-friendly journey of science and exploration packed with interactive installations and discovery points. Our role was to bring this vision to life, developing visuals and content that captured the essence of exploration while ensuring consistency across all digital and physical channels.

Together, we transformed the idea into an immersive campaign that invited visitors of all ages to experience Grand Arcade in a fresh and engaging way.

Science. Community. Exploration.

In collaboration with science and technology partners – BIOS Health, Cambridge Applied Research, Cambridge University Libraries, Cambridge Science Centre, and Raspberry Pi , the event featured interactive sculptures placed throughout the center, each linked to a unique discovery. Visitors were guided by a trail map that took them on an engaging journey, weaving through iconic Cambridge landmarks and themes of exploration.

To bring this campaign to life, we crafted a vibrant visual identity for the campaign that reflected the excitement of discovery. The design featured geometric illustrations inspired by Cambridge’s scientific achievements, paired with a bold, modern typeface.

A bright, contrasting colour palette made the visuals approachable and dynamic, while the grid-based layout reinforced the themes of structure and logic inherent in science. This thoughtful combination ensured the campaign was both visually striking and engaging for audiences of all ages.

And the winner is…

As a creative agency, nothing makes us prouder than seeing a campaign we brought to life, and the respective client, receive the recognition they deserve. This pride was cemented at the Revo Awards, where Grand Arcade: Grand Discoveries won Best Medium Marketing Campaign of the Year. Praised for its authentic placemaking, international appeal, and lasting impact, the campaign exemplified the power of thoughtful, engaging design.
